Introduction: The topic I want to research is mental health and it’s connection to culture; I was inspired to focus on this topic after noticing the lack of importance put on mental health in this nation and watching an episode of Grown-ish. Mental health is an epidemic that plagues numerous communities and groups, yet the awareness of it still seems to be lacking. As adolescent suicides rise and school shootings increase, we still fail the look at one of the number causes: mental illness. Although over the years it has been given a negative stigma, there is much to be learned about its significance and importance. Without the preservation of our mental health, we allow the 8 million deaths per year due to mental health to rise.
